MUSIC

Cevanne is an award-winning composer, LSO Associate, and Composer-in-Residence at Handel House.

But her first album is grimey, experimental pop.

Cevanne - Big Ears

The Arts Council gave this album an award.

Five young musicians, playing together live in the same room - just the way that music these days is not recorded..

Music and lyrics draw on the mixed heritage of the musicians. From the meditative beauty of Big Ears itself, which explores the legacy of the composer's deafness in childhood, to the provocative post-punk of We're watching You; from  the Samurai code of DS to the driving Eastern rhythms of Shadow; from wry comment on current pop idols of Clever Girl to the infectious groove of 3 M'Lord, this album pushes through and over frontiers.

There are stunning performances from Mercury-award winner Zoe Rahman, Kuljit Bhamra, George Bird, Maral Mohammadi, Kareem Dayes, and multi-instrumentalist Nina Horrocks-Hopayian.

It's worth buying the physical CD because it's entirely designed by the composer - from the cover to the included poster and stickers.

Celebrate the gift of hearing, the art of listening.

Peekaboogie

Jessica Hynes, award-winning actress, star of Dr Who, Twenty-twelve, W1A, Spaced, Confetti, Sean of the Dead... heard Cevanne at a charity gig for Mind. 'If you help me with this song, I will die and go to heaven' she messaged afterwards.

This is the result.

With the Big Ears Band in full funk quest, and Jessica's scorching vocals, 'just let the good times take ya'.

The Evolution of Eve

Selected as one of the 5 best radio dramas in the world by the Prix Marulic 2015, this collaboration between Cevanne and Radio Sweden is beautiful, original, and provocative.
